I study the distribution and spread of invasive fish species in rivers. My PhD combines field research and species distribution modeling to predict how a top fish predator (smallmouth bass) will respond to warming water temperatures in the Columbia River Basin. Smallmouth bass is one of many introduced warm water predators that predate on native salmon populations and is poised to benefit from warming water temperatures. Understanding how invasive fish respond to climate change can inform complex management decisions affecting stakeholders throughout the region.
